Vilac has been manufacturing wooden toys since 1911, (100 years!) The wood is turned, smoothed, sanded and lacquered by the skilled craftsmen at Moirans-en-montagne in the beautiful French Jura mountains.

Vilac have been manufacturing wooden toys for over 90 years and have become one of the oldest toymakers in Europe. Originally founded by Narcisse Villet in 1911 as a wood turning workshop in Jura,France. Viliac specialise finely lacquered wooden toys. Thus named - Vilac ("Vi" from Villet and "lac" from lacquer). The durable wood turning technique has continued to the present day contributing to the widely held attraction of Vilac toys. "It's a familiar yet poetic material that establishes in children a sense of continuity between a tree, a table or a floor. Wood is not damaging or unsettling. It doesn't smash, it wears away. It is durable and remains so as a child grows." |
